The Sky Above Isny

The weather in Isny has a lot to offer. If there is a build-up of cloud on the western slopes of the Adelegg, it can sometimes result in very heavy rain showers or snowfall. With around 1600 litres/m², this makes the city one of the wettest places in Germany. But Isny can also do the exact opposite – with more than 2000 hours of sunshine per year, the city is always way ahead in Germany’s annual weather services rankings.
Blue skies and bright sunshine, clouds and downpours – these are Isny’s contrasts.

Otl Aicher also dealt with the weather in Isny, and so ten pictorial signs were created especially on this subject. They show, among other things, thunder and cumulous clouds, the sunrise and warm alpine winds. One icon shows two umbrellas on which pouring rain falls down. Can you hear the raindrops on the screen?

We are pleased to announce the addition of the Isny Umbrella to our product range, now available for purchase in the Isny Tourist Information Office in the “Hallgebäude” (Hall building) and at www.isny.de/shop.
